Watercolor Materials

Why watercolors? Watercolors are magical, transparent and do their thing. It teaches me how to let go of control and become more free and in flow. Watercolors are a unique way to represent nature and get lost in watching colors and water merge in unexpected and wonderful ways.

I love to experiment with all new types of watercolor products. I work with different watercolor paper brands, watercolor pencils, gouache, watercolor liquid paints, tubes and tins. If you have a favorite, please share with me!

Letting Water do its Thing…

I’m in awe of nature and the properties of water. I love how water reacts with different watercolor paints creating beautiful and organic blooms and shapes.

The colors I use in my work are often delicate and soft, like the gentle wash of pastel hues in a hazy dawn sky. I love creating soft transitions between colors, giving the paintings an otherworldly quality. These harmonious blends of color create a sense of depth and atmosphere, making it feel as though the scenes you paint exist in a dreamlike realm. Shapes and forms in my paintings are often suggested rather than defined, giving the viewer room for interpretation.
